About

Posted on May 26th, 2007 in by Andy

The inspiration for the whole project comes from my Mum who came over to the US in November 2006, loaned me the Square Foot Gardening Book by Mel Bartholomew and I’ve been hooked on the idea since.

I’m a complete novice to gardening – the closest I’ve ever got is mowing the lawn! I thought it would be a cool idea to create a small square foot garden to grow my own vegetables and hopefully have some fresh salad this year.  I’ll be documenting the project as I go along to hopefully aid someone else who might be thinking about doing something similar in the future.  Hopefully you’ll get enjoy looking at the pictures as I photograph the produce and give me advice if you know better than I do!

I’m a computer tech by profession so a blog was the ideal way of documenting everything and gives me something to do whilst I wait for the seeds to grow.

    Hello,

I’m the materials curator for EducatorLabs, building out our resource section (http://educatorlabs.org/resources/), to (eventually) cover a wide range of topics. Our hope is that no one – from millennials seeking jobs through seniors just learning how to use the computer, will find themselves lost during their searches. Our guides can be their lanterns 🙂

I’m writing to seek permission to copy out some of the citations you make on this page: http://squarefoot.absoblogginlutely.net/page/2/.

There are several there that I think would make for nice additions! Also, I happened to notice a link on that page that isn’t working any longer: http://www.squarefootgardening.com.

I found a few alternatives that I wanted to pass along to you, in case you’re still making updates to your site: http://www.melbartholomew.com/ and http://squarefootgardening.org/.

Below is a short list of my favorite resources (so far!) on sustainability. When you have a chance, take a look and please feel free to include any on your site that you feel would benefit your visitors:
